Obtaining a residence permit for foreigners in Ukraine

Residence permit - a document entitling a foreigner or stateless persons for temporary or permanent residence in Ukraine on certain purposes according to Ukrainian law. A foreigner or a stateless person in accordance with the current legislation of Ukraine may entry the territory of Ukraine and stay here without any additional permits within 90 days. This period can also be prolonged if its necessity would be approved within respectable reasons up to 90 days. Summing up, foreigner or a stateless person can stay in the country not more than 180 days a year. For legalising your residence on the territory of Ukraine you must get residence permit and depending on its purpose you will able to stay longer then in ordinar way. There are two types of residence permit: temporary and permanent.

How to obtain a residence permit in Ukraine?

In process of obtaining residence permit, you will touch with a lot of bureaucratic issues when visiting state institutions. Permit is issued by State Migration Office in the law prescribed procedure. There are several purposes of obtaining residence permit:

  • Reunion of Family;
  • International technical assistance;
  • Religious Mission;
  • Branch of foreign company;
  • Mass-Media;
  • Branch of foreign non-governmental organization;
  • Cultural and Sport Exchange, Volunteer;
  • Branch of foreign bank

What you need to apply first?
  • national passport, valid for at least three months after the expiration date of the requested visa and having at least 2 blank visa designated pages;
  • Visa Application form filled personally;
  • 2 photos - recent, passport-sized;
  • Valid medical insurance;
  • Together with all items listed above the following documents, each referred to as "the supporting document", related to the purpose of entry.

How to get a temporary residence permit in Ukraine

Capability for obtaining a temporary residence permit have foreigners and stateless persons who arrived in Ukraine on the following grounds:

  • Registration fee payment.

  • Certificate of criminal record absence.
